About Jasmine

Jasmine Spitzer, a vocalist and 3rd generation educator from Minot, North Dakota, found her musical passion in the diverse genres of jazz, blues, pop, funk, and soul. She crafts original compositions that blend these influences and pay homage to all who have inspired her.

In 2017, she embarked on a journey to Central Ohio to pursue music education at Ohio Wesleyan University. Enchanted by the vibrant music scene in Columbus, she made the city her home.

Jasmine is a regular performer at venues like The Ginger Rabbit, Adelaide’s Gin Joint, Natalie’s Grandview, Dick’s Den, the Columbus Metropolitan Libraries, and various other hotspots around town, captivating audiences with her versatile and soulful voice. She is a middle school teacher in Columbus City Schools and a teaching artist for Jazz Arts Group. She is currently working on her first EP entitled “Here”.

Experience

Jasmine is a sought-after clinician and teaching artist for all ages of students. She has been an adjudicator at several jazz festivals around the midwest. She enjoys working with both vocal and instrumental ensembles, coaching students about how to connect with the music they’re performing in meaningful ways.

Jasmine holds a degree in music education from Ohio Wesleyan University. She has been a teaching artist for Jazz Arts Group since 2019. Here, she leads the youth vocal lab, adult vocal lab, and Jazz Academy On Tour programming with Rob Dove.

Education

Jasmine teaches American Music History and College & Career Readiness in Columbus City Schools. She also teaches

for The Jazz Arts Group in several capacities,

including summer camps

and vocal

workshops for

middle/high school

and adults.

Non-Profit Involvement

Jasmine is the director of education & mentorship at Neighborhood Athletics. Her role helps support young men and women in the Somali-Bantu community in Hilltop on the West Side of Columbus.
