Hey there! I’m so happy you’re here!

My name is Jasmine Spitzer. I’m a 3rd generation educator and musician from Minot, North Dakota. However, I’ve called Columbus “home” since the fall of 2017.

I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2021 with a degree in K-12 Music Education. I’ve loved teaching in and out of schools, and am so grateful to be able to spend my life pursuing my passion as an educator. I currently teach K-2 Social Emotional Learning full time, Commercial Voice part time at Otterbein University, and I instruct the vocal jazz programming at Jazz Arts Group’s Jazz Academy.

Jasmine: The Vocalist

In recent months, I have slowed down on performance engagements. In a period of some deep reflection, I came to realize that I had created an unhealthy tie between performing and my own self worth. Instead of focusing on frequency of performances, I have turned my focus to intentionally programmed sets of music that means something to me and others.

I am very interested in the intersectionality of music and mental health, which I am actively exploring. My goal is to use my gifts to help others, and that was the goal of my recent debut album, “Here” recorded live at Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge on February 4, 2025. By writing songs about my personal struggles and triumphs, I healed parts of my heart that had been broken for far too long, As a result of sharing this music, I have received countless comments and messages about my words touching the lives and hearts of others. My goal as a performer is to have a positive and lasting effect on the people I get to interact with.

Jasmine: The Educator

There is nothing I love more than teaching kids and adults of all ages. I believe that educators hold a massive amount of influence in a child’s life, and that’s something I take very seriously.

As an educator, I am committed to social emotional learning and implementing equitable practices. Providing high quality experiences to children in opportunity-rich areas is something I am passionate about, so I am so thrilled to be a part of community outreach opportunities through my work with the Jazz Academy. I’ve been able to reach students in every neighborhood of Columbus and create meaningful musical memories that will hopefully last.

My educational philosophy revolves around children benig the single highest value resource we have available to us. Their minds are filled with endless amounts of creativity, empathy, wonder, and excitement. It is the greatest joy in my life to teach.
