Let’s Make Music!
Whether you’re discovering music for the first time, returning to an old passion, or ready to take your skills to the next level, I’d love to be part of your musical journey! I’m a licensed K–12 music educator, professional vocalist, songwriter, and former collegiate voice instructor with experience teaching students of all ages and abilities.
From elementary classrooms to university instruction and professional stages, I’ve spent my career helping people discover their potential through music.
Let’s discover yours!
My Teaching Philosophy
People first. Music second.
I believe the best learning happens when students feel safe to explore, make mistakes, ask questions, and discover their potential.
My approach combines strong musical foundations with creativity, encouragement, and individualized instruction. I want my students to become not just better musicians, but more confident, curious, and expressive people.
Whether we’re preparing for an audition, writing an original song, or celebrating the first time you play a piece from beginning to end, there’s always something worth celebrating!
Singing
Find your voice and make it your own!
Whether you’re looking to strengthen your vocal technique, explore new repertoire, prepare for an audition, or simply sing for the joy of it, we’ll build lessons around your individual goals and interests.
My approach combines healthy vocal production, breath management, musical expression, and stylistic versatility. With a professional background in classical, jazz, soul, pop, and contemporary music, I especially enjoy helping singers explore their unique sound while developing the technical foundation to use their voices with confidence.
Depending on your goals, we can also incorporate ear training, sight-reading, music theory, improvisation, and performance preparation. Whether you’re an aspiring professional, an experienced performer, or someone who’s never sung outside the shower, there’s a place for you here!
Functional Piano & Beginner Keyboard
Learn to use the piano as a tool for making and learning music!
My piano instruction focuses on building practical keyboard skills for beginning students and musicians who want to expand their abilities. Whether you’re a young learner exploring the instrument for the first time, a vocalist hoping to accompany yourself, or a songwriter looking to bring your ideas to life, lessons are designed around your goals.
Beginning students will develop foundational skills through five-finger patterns, scales, simple melodies, rhythm, basic notation, and introductory technique. For singers, songwriters, and other musicians, we can explore chord progressions, lead sheets, basic accompaniment patterns, music theory, and playing by ear.
My goal isn’t to train professional pianists, but to help students develop the confidence and independence to use the keyboard as a valuable part of their musical journey! For students interested in advanced piano study or classical piano performance, I’m happy to recommend a dedicated piano instructor!
Saxophone
Find your sound and bring your music to life!
As a saxophonist and music educator, I help students build strong instrumental fundamentals while discovering the joy of expressive music-making.
Lessons can focus on tone production, breath support, embouchure, articulation, technique, music reading, and developing fluency on the instrument. We’ll explore repertoire that supports your interests and abilities, whether you’re learning your first notes, participating in a school band, or looking to strengthen your skills as an independent musician.
My goal is to help students become confident, capable players who understand their instrument and enjoy the process of learning it.
Songwriting
Have a story to tell? Let’s turn it into music!
Songwriting is one of my favorite ways to explore creativity, process experiences, and connect with others. As a recording artist and songwriter, I love helping others discover that they have something worth saying, too.
Whether you’re working on your very first song or developing a collection of original music, lessons can explore lyric writing, melody, harmony, song structure, storytelling, and the creative process. We can work on developing ideas from scratch, strengthening songs you’ve already written, or building the foundational music skills that make songwriting feel more accessible.
You don’t need to be an experienced singer or instrumentalist, or have years of music theory knowledge to get started. You just need curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to explore!
Music Theory & Musicianship
Understand the music you love, and become a more confident musician!
Music theory doesn’t have to be intimidating. In fact, I believe it should be practical, engaging, and directly connected to the music you’re making.
Lessons can cover music notation, rhythm, scales, intervals, chords, harmony, ear training, sight-reading, and other foundational musicianship skills. We’ll explore how these concepts work in real music and how to apply them to your own playing, singing, or songwriting.
Whether you’re a beginner looking for a stronger foundation, a vocalist wanting to become a more independent musician, or a student preparing for collegiate music studies, we’ll develop the knowledge and skills to help you reach your goals.
Music theory and ear training can also be incorporated into your regular private lessons!
